Jamia Milia Islamia,New Delhi:

Jamia Millia Islamia chapter of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) organized a seminar by Dr. Akhtar Kalam, Professor of Victoria University, Australia, on topic “Issues associated with implementation of Embedded Generation and Microgrids”.

Prof. Mini S Thomas welcomed Prof. Akhtar Kalam by presenting a flower bouquet.

Dr. Ahteshamul Haque, Counsellor of IEEE-Jamia Milia Islamia, welcomed Prof. Akhtar Kalam and introduced him to the audience. Dr. Haque in his address mentioned that Energy security implementation is in the hands of Engineers. Hence it is important for engineers to understand the implementation and related issues, which was main theme of the discussion with Prof. Akhtar Kalam. He also mentioned “I am thankful to IEEE PELS-1 ES Delhi section for their valuable support in organizing the seminar”

Prof. Akhtar Kalam addressed the energy crisis issues and its solutions. He talked about the embedded generation using renewable energy sources like Solar PV, Fuel Cell, and Wind Energy etc. He also said that the upcoming requirements of electrical energy will be met by power generation at micro level i.e. by end user. Then he listed out the related methods and challenges.

Under the coordination of Dr. Haque and students of IEEE-JMI, Seminar room was filled with students and Faculty members. The students of different streams i.e., Electrical, Electronics & Communications and Computer Engineering participated in the discussion. The students and Faculty members listened enthusiastically to Professor Akhtar Kalam, who utilized their excitement on stage.
