Delhi University’s this college to come up with a crèche

Laxmibai College of Delhi University is all set to bring up a crèche. The college is the first one to take this step to benefit the teaching staff and the non-teaching as well.

The crèche will be equipped with all the toys and painting stuff a child can use. According to the source the crèche will initially be able to accommodate two dozen children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. The cost incurred upon the maintenance will be funded by the college itself. However the other essentials will be contributory.

On speaking to a reporter of statesman, the principal, Dr Pratyush Vatsala said that the crèche will be provided with a microwave and a fridge but initially the food will to be bought by the teachers themselves.

She also made a remark that many teachers had approached her with a request to have some kind of arrangements for the ones who cannot leave their child at home. “This will certainly reduce the number of the child care leave taken by an employee”, she said.

Laxmibai College at present has only 3 male teachers in its 90 plus teaching staff.
