Delhi University: Election Commission to start Voter ID Drive on July 27 and 28

Only 1,80,936 are enrolled as eligible voters out of total 6,34,584 Delhi youth falling in the age group of 18-19 according to the latest data released by the Election Commission of India. ECI has decided to come into action and carry the process of enrolling students for voting to Delhi University student’s college in order to minimize this gap among students and potential voters.

Nine colleges from North campus of Delhi University have been shortlisted by the ECI where the registration booth will be set up for the students to apply for the Voter ID card on July 27 and 28. The registration process is open for students above 18 years of age.

The registration booths will be set up in following nine colleges

1. Shri Ram College of Commerc

2. St Stephen’s College

3. Miranda House

4. Hindu College

5. Ramjas College

6. SGTB Khalsa College

7. Hansraj College

8. Daulat Ram College

9. Kirori Mal College.

“We will ensure the process is simplified for eligible voters by getting the registration stalls to their campus. The voter ID cards will be delivered to these students within a month of application at the residential address mentioned by them” said Padam Singh, district electoral officer while talking to Daily Mail.

He further added that the students and unregistered voters from other colleges can also come and apply.

Documents required for the voter ID card
A colour passport-size photo and a college identity card is required to register for a voter ID card. Form 6 will be provided to students at counters.
