Delhi Government scrapped Management Quota in Nursery Admissions.

The management quota of nursery admissions has been scrapped by Delhi Government. The only quota that will now remain is the 25 per cent seats set aside for children from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Wednesday. The government will also release 62 illustrative criteria that are considered discriminatory. Earlier the schools kept quota for the parents with some talents or reserved seats for siblings.

“Management quota is the biggest scandal which deprives common people. Delhi government is passing an order to abandon management quota. If the school managements object, the government will go to court, Kejriwal said.

It is good to see the government making sure in keeping the admission process clear, well-defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, and unambiguous. It can be called a much needed respite to parents and a step to avoid unnecessary stress for basic education.
