Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University gets new Vice Chancellor

Prof. Javed Masarrat, who has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, bid farewell yesterday evening as an outgoing Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University.

In his farewell speech, Prof. Javed Masarrat expressed gratitude towards faculty members and staff for their support and cooperation during his tenure as Dean. He said that AMU’s Faculty of Agricultural Sciences was amongst the best centres of higher learning in agricultural research and the faculty members had great potential to carry out researches that would help the country to initiate another green revolution.

Expressing happiness on Prof. Masarrat joining Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri as its Vice Chancellor, the new Dean of Agricultural Science faculty, Prof. Pervez Qamar Rizvi said that Prof. Masarrat had brought laurels to the University and the AMU fraternity took pride in his exemplary achievements.

Prof. Rizvi also felicitated Prof. Masarrat on this occasion.

Born in 1960, Prof. Musarrat has served the AMU as Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chairman of Department of Agricultural Microbiology. He has authored several books and more than 140 research papers published in international publications. He has served at the Ohio State University and Michigan State University, US as Visiting Scientist and worked as Chair Professor, DNA Research Chair, King Saud University, Riyadh. He has received several awards and is a member of the editorial boards of various scientific journals.
