Annual Techno-Cultural Fest “Encomium’15” inaugurated in Jamia

The three-day Annual Techno-Cultural Fest  “Encomium’15” was inaugurated today by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia. The annual festival, organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia every year, is the largest techno-fest organized in Jamia Millia Islamia that involves both technological and cultural events.

The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. This was followed by welcome speech by Dr. Ahteshamul Haque, Branch Counsellor of IEEE-JMI, In his address he appreciated the leadership and encouragement of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Talat Ahmad. During his address he showed a video about IEEE-JMI and its global connect. Dr. Haque briefed the gathering, about the history of IEEE-JMI. He welcomed all the teams and wishes good luck to them for the upcoming events in the next two days.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Talat Ahmad, the Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia exhorted the students to excel in their academic pursuits. He said that students need to be competitive to take leadership positions in different walks of life. He advised students to contribute to the corporate life of the nation by designing innovative products that could be used by people at large. He congratulated the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia for the organization of the robust techno-cultural fest on the campus.

Ms. Preeti Malhotra, Executive Director, Spice Global, Inc. was the Guest of Honour at the event. In her address, she inspired the students to harness the technological advancements that have come about in the world to impact the lives of people.

Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia presided over the ceremony. In the presidential address, The Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mohd. Shakeel said that it is the biggest and a high quality Tech Fest organized by Faculty of Engineering. He congratulated Dr. Ahteshamul Haque for the same. He also encouraged students to join IEEE for getting more professional knowledge.

Prof. Mini Thomas, Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia advised the students to come forward and be part of the Incubation Cell set-up by Jamia Millia Islamia to innovate technological products for the benefit of society. Prof. Mini S Thomas during her address also briefed about IEEE-Delhi section, and thanked Dr. Ahteshamul Haque to taking the responsibility as Branch Counselor. She also thanked IEEE Chair Maudood Ahmad and IEEE students’ members and volunteers for organizing this event.

Prof. Prof. Talat Ahmad and Ms PreetiMalhotra unveiled the IEEE-JMI annual magazine ENCORE.The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Maudood Ahmad, Chairperson, IEEE-JMI.
