AMU VC meets UP CM Akhilesh Yadav

ALIGARH October 7:

AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has urged the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav to recommend for a CBI enquiry into the murder of the BSW student of AMU, Alamgir on September 18 last.

Lt. Gen. Shah met Mr. Akhilesh Yadav in his office and urged him to direct the UP Power Corporation to levy the electricity usage charges on the Aligarh Muslim University as per the domestic tariff instead of commercial one, in the same manner as is applied with the Banaras Hindu University. He also drew his attention towards the senescent condition of the Khair Bypass used as the principal route from Aligarh to Delhi.

The Vice Chancellor has submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister for granting a patch of land adjacent to the University campus which is presently occupied by the UP government’s offices. He said that this land is strategically significant for the University’s expansion and security.

Lt. Gen. Shah has requested Mr. Yadav to grace the Sir Syed Commemorative Meeting on October 17 as chief guest.

While ordering for immediate action on upgrading the Khair bypass road, Mr. Yadav has assured the Vice Chancellor that his government would take a decision on his demands after due consideration.
