AMU student gets “Young Thinker Award”

ALIGARH January 19:  Dr. Ritesh Kumar, Junior Resident in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University secured second position in “All India Young Thinkers Award” organized by the state government of Haryana. He has received Rs. 40,000 as prize money for his innovative idea on “Development of voice generation device for dumb patients”.

This award is given to young thinkers for their constructive and innovative ideas aimed at improving public system of delivery of government schemes and programmes.

Dr. Kumar presented an idea to develop an electronic gadget, which could help aphonic patients in generating voice for easy communication instead of using sign language.

Dr. Ritesh Kumar’s idea was refined by Prof. SS Ahmed, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery before developing the design of the gadget. Dr. Ahmed has congratulated Dr. Kumar on the achievement and urged him to work hard on developing the gadget to finest to help the humanity.

Dr. Kumar, who has several research papers to his credit, has thanked Prof. Ahmed for his guidance and attributed his success to Prof. Ahmed’s support and encouragement. He said that every kind of financial and technical support should be provided to young researchers and innovative students.
