AMU Professor honored with Lifetime Achievement award

Aligarh, July 21:
Prof. Mohammad Hanif Beg, Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred upon the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Venus International Foundation (VIF), Chennai. The award was conferred on him for his contribution and achievements in the field of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery during the Contemporary Academic Meet VICAM 2016, which was recently organized by the Centre for Advanced Research and Design (CARD) in Chennai.

The award requires demonstration of exceptional contributions to the institution as shown through leadership in faculty governance or administrative work, mentoring of student activities, sponsorship of events, or initiation of new services for students, faculty and other members of the institution.

Professor Beg has been an academic enthusiast in surgery for nearly four decades. While handling eminent positions at JN Medical College he has implemented very successful Clinical Governance programs and brought into focus the processes and outcome measures leading to better patient care and training of Medical students. He is Life Member of many Medical scientific Associations at National and International level.

Professor Beg played a key role in the establishment and development of Division of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery from a scratch in the Department of Surgery which led to its transformation into a full-fledged department. At the moment all types of closed cardiac, pulmonary, esophageal and vascular operations and Endoscopic procedures are being performed routinely. Till date, nearly Five thousand procedures have been carried out with excellent outcome.

Prior to this he had been appointed as one of the Editors of very prestigious journals like Madridge Journal of Cardiology, Open Access Journal Surgery, and Annals of Case reports, USA.
