AMU organizes symposium two day International Symposium on “(Breast and GYN) Pathology”

Aligarh February 6:

The Department of Pathology, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with Aligarh Medical Alumni Association of North America (AMAANA), is organizing a two day International Symposium on “(Breast and GYN) Pathology” .

The Symposium which began on Friday, February 6, 2015 is directed towards academic and private physicians and researchers involved in breast cancer in medical, surgical, gynecologic, and radiation oncology, as well as other appropriate health care professionals. The theme of the event is “Women’s Health”.

Addressing his key note in a lecture theatre, brimful with medical practitioners, academics and scholars, the Chief Guest and editor of Pathology Book, “Pathologic Basis of Disease”, Dr Vinay Kumar said that AMU is the Taj Mahal of higher learning. “However, Taj Mahal is the past and Academic institutions like AMU are the future of India,” further said Dr Kumar.

Pointing out that most of the women in rural India suffer from gynaecological and breast related health issues, Dr Kumar Said, “Women make almost half of our population strength and without a healthy population, India will not be able to enjoy a healthy economy.” He also suggested that good health should be made a constitutional right.

Dr Kumar also mentioned that his visit to AMU is special. “As an academic, I keep visiting medical colleges all over the world and I am grateful to have been respected everywhere. However, AMU has not only given me respect but has taken me into an embrace of love and affection,” said Dr Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Aligarh Muslim University, Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali (retd) said that half of our folks are women and a large number of them suffer with Breast and GYN problems. He further urged the young and experienced doctors present to take the message of the symposium across all sections of society.

Guest of Honour, Dr Ashraf Khan informed that a panel of experts in the symposium will discuss various aspects of women related health issues. “I am proud to be a part of this program where delegates from all over the India are participating and it is privilege to be a part of a program which has the presence of Vinay Kumar,” said Dr Khan.

The Director of Institute of Cytology and Preventive Oncology, Dr Ravi Mehrotra said that he has been visiting AMU for attending symposiums and owes a lot to the JNMC in his progress.

Organizing Chairman Prof S. Shamshad Ahmad pointed out that there will be an extensive slide session on breast and gynaecological pathology related to women’s health, in which slides from various important and rare lesion will be discussed.

Dean Faculty of Medicine, Prof Shah Jahan Bano urged the young doctors to learn from this symposium while Dr Tariq Mansoor, Principal, J N Medical College asked Assistant and Associate Professors attending the program to do specializations in Pathology and follow the foot steps of the senior pathologists who are attending the symposium.

The Program was conducted by Dr Rubina Khan while Organizing Secretary, Prof Mahboob Hasan proposed the vote of thanks.
