AMU alumni partake in development of school for visually challenged

ALIGARH March 26:

Dr. Intazam Khan, President of the Aligarh Alumni Association, New York (USA) today presented a cheque of US$5000 to the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah for providing new computers and special software to the students of Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged.Dr. Intazam Khan, a renowned Neurologist, is an alumnus of the J. N. Medical College, AMU.

On this occasion, Mr. Ali Rizvi, President, Vision Aid, USA has announced to donate 120 laptops, which will help the visually challenged students to have an easy access to these devices.Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah, wife of AMU Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the Laptop Lab.

Welcoming guests, Mrs. Firdaus Rahman, Principal, Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged, said that the school was established in 1927 by Sahebzada Aftab Ahmad Khan. In 1955, AMU brought a complete change in the school and today it stands as one of the leading institutions for visually changed in India.Mrs. Rahman said that AMU is perhaps the only University in the world that maintains a Secondary School for visually challenged students. She appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ali Rizvi and his wife Dr. Deeba Husain to provide expensive musical instruments to the school. She also thanked Dr. Ahad Noor Khan Yusufi, retired Professor in Biochemistry, who very generously made arrangement for installation of close circuit Cameras in the school campus. She said that school has planned to make Ahmadi School the hub of computer training, computer application and innovative computer programming.

On this occasion, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah appreciated the efforts of AMU alumni for the development of their alma mater.Dr. Shahid Jameel, CEO, Welcome Trust, UK also interacted with students. Mr. Ahtisham Akbar proposed a vote of thanks.
