Aligarh, April 30:

The Academic Council of the Aligarh Muslim University in its meeting today has decided that the University will appeal in the Supreme Court on the issue of the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The meeting was presided by AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd).

In the meeting of the Academic Council, it was also decided that the university will issue an advisory to MBBS/BDS aspirants, preparing for phase second of the NEET entrance test schedule on July 24, 2016. This is to cater for the worst case scenario.

The result of Tier I, MBBS/BDS entrance test was declared on April 27, 2016. A large number of candidates have made mistake in answering the ‘filling up columns’ eight of OMR sheet, which was not applicable for them.

The Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) has constituted a committee under professor M Salim Beg of the Department of Electronics Engineering and Prof Shahid Farooq of the Department of Geology to examine the problem. If the marks of the candidates are above the present cut off percentage, they will also be declared successful in Tier I term.

Meanwhile, the list of aspirants already short-listed in Tier I will stand.
