Ambedkar University to hold student union elections for the first time in 8 years of establishment

Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) is all set to hold its first student union elections on April 18. The elections are scheduled to be held on April 18 between 9 am and 3 pm. Ambedkar University is conducting elections for the first time since the foundation of the university.In 2008,Delhi Government had established the Ambedkar University . The university offers various undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes with a student strength of 1800.
As stated to the PTI, a member of the election committee said “There were constant demands from the students for having an elected body to raise their demands. The administration gave a nod to it this year and the first elections will be held on April 18,”
He further added “We have 40 programmes in total and one representative each will be elected. The elected members will then vote for the central panel. The union will also work on drafting a constitution to be followed by the elected body,”
“It’s refreshing to hear that after 8 years of the establishment of the university, administration has given democratic rights to the students by introducing the students union elections for the first time.I would like to thanks Vice Chancellor for giving chance to students to elect their representatives and raise their issues vociferously.” said Ghanshyam Dixit, a final year student of Ambedkar university.
 
Important dates of the elections is as follows
Last date for filing nomination papers for the council elections: April 13(till 2 pm )
Last date of withdrawal :April 16
Date of Voting: April 18 ( 9 am and 3 pm )
Announcement of the results:April 18 at 10 PM
