50% Reservation continues for SC/ST in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University

The ball is again in the court of university students of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University as Allahabad court in a petition filed by public welfare association of this university gave the decision in favor of students of backward classes. According to the court the backward classes i.e. the Schedule Tribe and Schedule Caste will still hold 50% of quota and warned the university administration that in future no such policy should be made against the approbation of university students. Amit Bose, Abhishek Bose and Nilya Gupta were the advocates present in the hearing.

The students of the university were at the top of the world after judgement. A sigh of relief prevailed at the campus. Last few days have witnessed a war and a struggle between the university students especially dalits and the administration regarding this reservation system.

The administration was leaving no stone unturned to lower down the percentage of quota in university. A good number of fights and war of words between the university administration and students of backward classes were being observed in the campus area. According to one of the students it was not a fight against administration but a fight against injustice which is not yet over, now the need of hour is to fight for the reservation of 27% for other backward classes. A sigh of relief prevailed in campus as for the last few days, there were struggles among the university students
