3,000 Foreign Students Registered To Delhi University: Applications Rise By 50 Per Cent In 2018

This year 3,000 foreign students have applied for various programmes to take admission in Delhi University (DU). This is a great rise of applications as compared to last year from foreign students. It clearly shows 50% rise in the number as compared to 2017.

Last year candidates had to submit forms hand-to-hand/physically but this year, candidates can do registration online and easily apply for admission. Dr. Subhash Kumar, on special duty in admission department said “this time registration process is in two phases, one is from January to April and second was from 4 June to 11 June.”

From 3,000 applications, around, 1,704 are self-sponsored, 1,300 have been forwarded by the (ICCR) Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Delhi University received 316 and 317 applications from Tibet & Nepal, from Afghanistan it received 111 applications. Other countries with a notable number of applications include; Bangladesh (45), United Kingdom (16), United States (48), Ethiopia (28), and Sri Lanka (11). Also DU received 9 applications from China and 7 from Mauritius & Myanmar.

Last year in 2017, total 140 and 150 students were selected from Tibet and Nepal, for various courses. B-Com, B-Com (Hons) and BA English (Hons) are the courses which were popular last year. Comparably, 26 students had enrolled from the US, 51 from Afghanistan, 15 from Mauritius, 26 from the US, 11 from the United Kingdom, 13 from Bangladesh, and 13 from Vietnam.

When we talk about colleges , Hindu College, Kirori Mal College, Hansraj College, SRCC, Ramjas College, Miranda House, Indraprastha College for Women, and Daulat Ram College appear as the most popular colleges.
