27 candidates trained at Jamia’s free Coaching Centre qualify for UPSC Civil Services 2016

As many as 27 candidates who received coaching at Jamia Millia Islamia’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) have qualified for UPSC’s Civil Services Examinations, 2016. Of these, 5 have made it to the IAS, two to the IPS including a girl, Bisma Qazi and the rest to the Revenue, Customs, Railways and other services. Of these 27 candidates, 9 are women.

Expressing his happiness over the overwhelming success of candidates who received coaching at RCA, Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Talat Ahmad said, “these results show that perseverance and hard work pay in the long run. Many of our students come from economically weaker sections of society and they have proved that given an opportunity and right guidance they can deliver their best”.“Some of those who have qualified have studied not just in this university but are also products of Jamia schools. They have done their alma mater proud”, Prof Ahmad said expressing the hope that their success will inspire more students to follow in their footsteps.

 Arif Ahsan, who has made it to the IAS securing 74th rank, is a pass-out of Jamia school and has also done his B. Tech (Electrical Engineering) from JMI. Arif said that JMI has shaped his life since he was a young boy in school and has made him what he is today.26-year old, Suhail Qasim Mir, who has secured 125th rank, has studied MBA at the Centre for Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. He is also pursuing his Ph. D. at JMI’s Management centre.
Suhail’s message to future Civil Services aspirants—“if you can dream it you can do it. You need to believe in yourself and never develop self-doubt. Perseverance and commitment is the key and there is no substitute for hard work. Be focused and you will make it.” Suhail added that JMI provided to him a different kind of exposure and cultural exchange which went a long way in shaping his personality and thinking.

RCA provided more than 700 hours of coaching comprising of classes, special lectures, group discussions, test series and mock interviews to the aspirants of Civil Services 2016.

Mr.  M. F. Farooqui, Director, RCA said that the continuing success of Civil Services’ aspirants trained at the centre is satisfying for the faculty. Mohammad Tarique, Deputy Director, RCA wished the successful candidates the very best in their careers and hoped that they would serve the nation in true spirit.

Since its inception in 2010, RCA has produced 93 civil servants including IAS and IPS. It provides free coaching to minorities, SC/ST and women. It has 24×7 library facilities as well as free hostel facility for all the enrolled students.
